The James Marshall Public Policy Fellowship A stipend of $60,000 per year plus health benefits 02/01/2017

"The SPSSI James Marshall Fellowship in Public Policy trains early career scientists to 1) contribute to the effective use of scientific knowledge about social issues in the formation of public policy at the federal level; 2) educate the scientific community about how research can contribute to the development of public policy; and 3) establish a more effective liaison between social scientists and various policy-making mechanisms. This position is supported, in part, by an endowment provided to SPSSI by the James Marshall Fund. The fellowship provides support for a post-doctoral level fellow to work full-time for one year (September 1 to August 31) in the U.S. Congress in Washington, DC. The fellow should expect to use psychological research to inform the public policy making process while working full-time in a congressional office. The Marshall Fellow participates in a range of activities involving the application of psychological research to analyze specific social policies and develop science-informed policy. The policy focus of the work varies from year to year depending on the fellow’s congressional placement. Past fellows have carried out placements in both the House and Senate and have engaged in a diverse range of policymaking activities (e.g., drafting legislation, writing speeches and talking points, planning hearings, meeting with constituents and outside groups, conducting background research). The James Marshall Fellowship program is affiliated with the AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science) Science & Technology Fellowships program, which means that Marshall Fellows participate fully in the AAAS Fellowship program’s orientation to federal policymaking in early September and have access to a range of AAAS Fellowship professional development opportunities and support throughout the fellowship year and beyond. FRAXA awards fellowships to postdoctoral researchers working in established labs on projects related to FRAXA’s Research Priorities. The Foundation supports research focused on finding a specific treatment for fragile X syndrome. Their goal is to bring practical treatment into current medical practice as quickly as possible. Preference is given to research projects that have a clear practical application and the results of which will be shared in a timely fashion. The award is for 2 years.

The University Scholarship Program is designed to provide encouragement and public recognition to students who have demonstrated academic excellence. Scholarships range from $500 to $5,000 per year. The primary criterion for awards from the University Scholarship Program is outstanding scholarship with restrictions applying to some awards, e.g., residence, major, etc. Your accurate completion of the scholarship application will ensure you are considered for every scholarship for which you qualify. Please read the following carefully. In order to be considered for a Sonoma State University scholarship, applicants must be a continuing student or a new student who has applied for admission for the 2017/2018 academic year and is planning to attend SSU full-time in a degree or credential program. If you are a new applicant to SSU, please make sure you have activated your My SSU account login before you attempt to apply for scholarships.

Visiting Iraqi Scholarships These scholarships allow scholars to: spend up to two months in the UK; undertake a specific research or training project; build relations with scholars in the UK; participate in a suitable programme designed for each recipient; and to work with a mentor arranged by BISI. These scholarships cover: institutional fees (e.g. university access and library usage but not tuition fees); housing (usually with a family) and a daily allowance for living expenses (per diem); all travel expenses, including visas; and emergency travel insurance. 2/1/2017

BISI offers 2 to 3 scholarships each year to enable Iraqi scholars and cultural heritage professionals to engage in research, training and collaborative projects in the UK.

Projects should focus on the history, society and culture of Iraq from the earliest times until the present. We welcome applications from scholars involved in the following fields: anthropology, archaeology, history, geography, languages and other areas in the arts, humanities and social sciences.

All applicants must be currently based in Iraq and should demonstrate how a scholarship in the UK will strengthen the research and cultural heritage environment in Iraq. Priority is given to Iraqi scholars who already have a working relationship with a UK institution or academic.

Rosalind Franklin Fellowships up to a maximum of € 5,330 2/1/2017

The University of Groningen offers a starting salary for the Rosalind Franklin Fellow/assistant professor, dependent on qualifications and relevant work experience, of a minimum of 3,427 gross per month (salary scale 11 Dutch Universities) up to a maximum of 5,330 gross per month (salary scale 12) for a fulltime position.
The salaries include an 8% holiday allowance, an 8.3% end-of-year bonus and participation in an employee pension scheme. The conditions of employment comply with the Collective Labour Agreement for the University of Groningen.
The appointment of a Rosalind Franklin Fellow/assistant professor will be on a temporary basis for a maximum of 6 years. After 5 years of employment, there will be an assessment of performance based on established criteria including research and teaching qualifications. If the outcome of the assessment is positive, the assistant professor will be promoted to the rank of associate professor with tenure. At the end of a further 4-7 year period, there will be another assessment aimed at promotion to full professor.
