Applicant must have a clinical doctoral degree (M.D., D.O., D.D.S.) or its equivalent (this may include individuals holding both a M.D. and Ph.D. degrees as well as individuals with a Ph.D. in clinical fields such as clinical psychology, nursing, or physical therapy). Selection is based upon academic merit, the quality and originality of the research project, a well-developed mentorship plan, and the commitment of the sponsoring institution.
Award is given for research and training activities related to aging and care of the elderly. Award will be made for three, four or five years.

Mentored Research Scholar Grant in Applied and Clinical Research $135,000 April 1; October 15

Awarded to support mentored research by full-time faculty, typically within the first four years of their appointment, with the goal of becoming independent investigators in clinical, cancer control and prevention, epidemiologic, psychosocial, behavioral, health services and health policy research.
Awards are made up to five years and for up to $135,000 per year (direct costs) plus 8% allowable indirect costs

Frederick Burkhardt Residential Fellowship for Recently Tenured Students $75,000 October 2

Applicant must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Award is intended to support an academic year of residence at any national residential research centers. Program encourages exchanges across disciplinary lines that can be especially helpful to deepening and expanding the significance of projects in the humanities and related social sciences. Postdoctoral Fellowship $46,000 April 1; October 15

Awarded to support the training of researchers who have just received their doctorate to qualify for an independent career in cancer research.

Graduate Research Fellowship Program $44,000 November 18

Applicants must be full-time students who have completed no more than 12 months of graduate study and be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals or permanent residents. Fellowships support research on U.S. education issues using data from the large-scale, national and international data sets supported by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), NSF or other federal agencies. Harry Frank Guggenheim Research Grants $27,500 08/01/2017

The Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation funds research for 1-2 years in the natural and social sciences and the humanities that explore understanding of violence. Fellows will promise to increase understanding of the causes, manifestations, and control of violence and aggression. Questions that interest the foundation concern violence and aggression in relation to social change, intergroup conflict, war, terrorism, crime, and family relationships, among other subjects.

National Science Foundation (NSF) - Arctic Social Sciences Program (ASSP) - Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grant

Average award is $25,000 per year but may be adjusted according to the needs of the project.

The ASSP encompasses all social, behavioral, and economic sciences supported by NSF. These include, but are not limited to anthropology, archaeology, economics, geography, the science of endangered languages, law and social science, political science, linguistics, science technology and society, social psychology, sociology, traditional knowledge systems, and related subjects. Areas of particular interest include culture and environment, resources and economic change, development of social and political institutions, ethnic and regional identities, and knowledge systems. Dissertation research proposals are encouraged and assistance with logistics is available. Typically, projects are funded for one year. However, funding may be awarded for two years depending on the project.

American Psychological Association (APA) - Elizabeth Munsterberg Koppitz Child Psychology Graduate Fellowship $25,000.

The Koppitz fellowship supports graduate research in child psychology including child-clinical, pediatric, school, educational, and developmental psychopathology. The fellowship provides one year of support. 

Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship for Minorities $24,000 November 14

Applicant must be U.S. citizen or national who is an Alaskan Native, Native American, black/African-American, Mexican American, Pacific Islander, or Puerto Rican. Applicant must have completed no more than 30 semester/45 quarter hours of graduate work in fields eligible for support.
Fellowship is awarded for three years; continued support is based upon recipient's progress.

NSERC supports Canadian citizens in doctoral programs in the natural sciences or engineering including civil and mechanical engineering; chemical, biomedical and materials science engineering; electrical engineering; computing sciences; mathematical sciences; physics and astronomy; chemistry; earth sciences; evolution and ecology; cellular and molecular biology; plant and animal biology; and psychology. The scholarships offers support for 2-3 years.

Predoctoral Research Training Fellowship $20,000 08/22/2017

The Epilepsy Foundation of America awards around 11 fellowships for students working on dissertation research related to epilepsy for the duration of 1 year. Funding is also supported partly by American Epilepsy Society (AES) and Pediatric Epilepsy Research Foundation (PERF). Fellows will hope to pursue a professional route with an academic focus. The fellowship is designed to fund new research, new therapeutic approaches, understanding the behavioral and psychosocial aspects of having epilepsy, and encouraging the professional development of scientists and healthcare professionals. Funding will begin in January or July.

Predoctoral Research Training Fellowship $20,000 August 22

Applicants must be full-time graduate students pursuing a Ph.D. degree in neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology, psychology, biochemistry, genetics, nursing, pharmacy or other related areas; have a dissertation research project; have a qualified mentor who can supervise the project and have access to resources to conduct the project. The project must be in the U.S. and its territories. The award is based on the quality of the dissertation project, relevance to epilepsy, the applicant's qualifications, the mentor's qualifications and the quality of the proposed environment.

Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange - Doctoral Fellowship for ROC Students Abroad

Up to $18,000.

Fellowships support dissertation write-up in research on Chinese Studies. The Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Taipei, the capital of the Republic of China. The Foundation promotes international scholarly exchange and the understanding of Chinese culture and society overseas. Successful candidates are expected to complete their dissertations by the end of the one-year grant period.

Aberystwyth University’s AberDoc PhD Scholarship Scheme in UK, 2017 £14,296 12/30/2017

The Aberystwyth University offers a package of research and training for full-time PhD students. These prestigious AberDoc scholarships are now open to UK/EU and Non-EU students who wish to study for a full-time PhD commencing in September 2017. These awards aim to develop the necessary skills required to meet applicant’s career choices and offer a breadth of development opportunities to enhance their research, teaching and transferable skills. University mission is to facilitate growth and development, and to challenge boundaries, helping students and staff to contribute to human Endeavour by unlocking their own talents. It seeks to nurture ability in all areas, share best practice, and remove institutional barriers to achievement. Postgraduate Scholarships for UK and EU Students at Cardiff University in UK, 2017 £3,000 07/05/2017
